With roots immersed in the Southern California lifestyle of going to the beach or to the desert, the Sakal family’s weekends were spent either surfing or riding dirt bikes which to this day are both still equally Ryan’s passions. As the son of a respected Southern California surfboard builder Ed Sakal, Ryan’s path led more frequently to the coast than to the desert where he quickly gained notoriety in the water as a surfer and competitor.
