T-Mac Finds Quiet Focus in ‘Remote Control’

From PinkBike

Towards the end of last year, Tyler headed back out into the Utah desert to finish a project that had been in the works for a couple of years. Injuries, weather, and life had all slowed it down, but they finally had a window to get it done.

805 Beer backed the project from the start and brought in Isaac Wallen and Nic Genovese to film it. Tyler had already spent a lot of time building and refining the zones, so each day was planned around specific features and the tasks that needed to happen before cameras came out. They were missing one piece, though, a photographer. Tyler is one of my athletes through HUNT Wheels, and I’ve spent enough time behind a camera over the years, so I jumped at the opportunity to head out and document it. 805 and Tyler were into it.

Remote Control was filmed out in the Utah desert, where things quiet down, and you’re left with nothing but the terrain in front of you. For Tyler, that kind of place has become a constant. He grew up riding in Santa Cruz, but over time, the desert has turned into somewhere he keeps coming back to, a place where he can slow things down and focus on riding without everything else getting in the way.

He’s spent enough time out there to know how to approach it. The way he rides comes from patience, figuring things out, and trusting what he’s doing. Every line takes work, and nothing really comes easy, but that’s the draw. This film follows that process, just Tyler out there riding, exploring, and putting lines together in a place that doesn’t give much away but gives something back if you take the time to understand it.
