This past weekend, and despite the rainstorm and “Atmospheric River” event that has been hammering the Southern California area, we decided to attend the book release event for the photography books Dirt Racers by Pete Ryan and Canyon Peacocks by Amir Ebrahimi. Held right on the famous Sunset Strip in Hollywood, the evening was full of good drinks, laughs, and new friends. It was nothing short of a good time.
Following the 2024 season of Hell On Wheels, Dirt Racers is an incredible look at the unique world of HoW events. And when photographer Pete Ryan sought out to document the vintage racers of the series, he decided to do so on arguably one of the most iconic still film cameras in photography—a Hasselblad 500C. It’s not easy to shoot action with the medium format Hasselblad, making the beautiful imagery of the book even more impressive.
Canyon Peacocks by Amir Ebrahimi, is a really cool book full of color film photography, featuring all the unique cars and motorcycles that frequent The Old Place in Agoura Hills, California, on any given weekend. We love any form of print that dives into the world of car culture and all things fast.
